Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

You don’t need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you wish to claim Medicare rebates, you’ll need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

What are the fees for sessions?

Our session fees are set below the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) recommended rate. Please contact our reception team for current fee information and to discuss rebate options available through Medicare or private health insurance.

How does the assessment process work?

The assessment process typically begins with an initial parent or client interview to gather background information and discuss current concerns. This is followed by a series of assessment sessions tailored to the referral question, which may include cognitive, academic, behavioural, or diagnostic testing. Once all information is collected, your psychologist will prepare a report and schedule a feedback session to discuss the results, diagnosis (if relevant), and recommendations.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity to discuss your current concerns, goals, and background with your psychologist. Together, you’ll begin developing a plan for therapy and discuss what to expect moving forward.

How long are sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are approximately 50 minutes in length. Assessment sessions may vary depending on the type of assessment and individual needs.
